News & Updates
Hi. Just a quick post, I am in the middle of planning the autumn and winter workshops. Dates and full details will be up soon on my workshop page. There will be limited numbers on these courses so early booking is advisable. Saturday is my next workshop at Fobbles and I look forward to meeting everyone, it is now fully booked. Limited places are still available for the September course at Greystoke, details are on my workshop page. The next couple of months will be busy, new stock and exciting new creations and kits, Wuzel stories and the new workshops! Hope to see you soon. Happy felting. Hooray ! June is here which means Woolfest! Lots of sheep and woolly goodies, I will obviously spend too much again, good job it's only once a year. It is on 24th & 25th.
The 26th I have my next workshop here.( At the time of posting 2 places became available) It is going to be a very woolly weekend, I look forward to meeting a new group of shepherdess's and possibly shepherds as we flock together to create our Herdwicks. Let's hope the sun shines and we can enjoy Annie's tasty lunch alfresco. Looking ahead to July 9th, I have another workshop here. Places are still available to date. All the information is given on the link, any questions please do contact Beverley at Fobbles or myself. I am currently upgrading my online shop, adding Paypal and displaying items better should make shopping easier, it also means I can sell everything form this website which is less confusing hopefully for customers. Unfortunately I have closed the shop whilst I make these changes and I'm off on my jollies next week but it will reopen on the 25th when I return for Woolfest! until then.. Happy felting. May has turned out to be a busy month. Pictured above are the ladies with their finished Herdwicks at Quirky workshops. The sun was shining so we had lunch alfresco! At last I have started my long awaited Woodland Wuzel stories, my little woodland characters which are needle felted and named after woodland plants. The plan to write their story has been put off for too long, it has now been added to the Woodland Wuzel page on this site. The characters are available to buy and wuzel kits, I plan to add Foxglove, Fungus and Angel colours to the Wuzel kits so make your own favourite Wuzel. I hope you enjoy the stories :) Felted soap making yesterday, I purchased some wonderful merino in blues and greens, so had fun mixing them up. Looking to the weekend, I will be meeting members of Gosforth Art group and look forward to seeing their arty touches added to their felted herdwicks. Everything is prepared so we just need to turn up and have a fun creative day. Happy felting, Annis. Hi, something new, a needle felted cushion with Herdwick design, using my Herdwick blended wool. It's lovely and soft, to cuddle up to or just use for display. I enjoyed creating something different to add to my Herdwick collection. Next weekend is another opportunity to make your own Herdwick doorstop at my workshop, it is being held at Quirky Workshops, Greystoke near Penrith. There are still a few places available, details on my workshop page. Looking ahead, Woolfest isn't far away, June 24th & 25th, I will be visiting and spending too much as usual! 26th is another workshop at Quirky workshops, a busy woolly weekend Yay!! If you are attending my workshop next week, I look forward to meeting you and hope you fully enjoy your day, until then, Happy felting. _Tup and ewe doorstops are only available at Viriidian gallery, Keswick and Santon Bridge gift shop, my Folksy shop and directly from myself.
I designed these doorstops entirely myself and I'm so pleased they are being enjoyed by so many folks. My Herdwick family is still growing! Meet Rosemary, Sage and Bubo, they are weighted owls. Manx Loughton, Alpaca and Merino have been used to create their soft fluffy faces, with a blend of wools on their bodies making a feathery effect
My Folksy shop Hi, Herdwick heaven in my studio at the moment, I have small tups and large, doorstops and one little yow. I am now working on my owls after carding Jacob, Merino and Blue faced Leicester together to make feathery owl colours. I have had enquires about carding, I use both methods of hand carding and drum carding. Hand carding is great to get started and to blend smaller amounts of wool. I use the drum carder to blend larger amounts into batts. I have added pictures below from a book I have to give you a better idea, carding is so much fun. Happy felting! My Folksy shop A big thank you to all the ladies who joined me at Greystoke for the Herdwick Workshop. Firstly for getting up early (clocks forward) and making a great job with your doorstops. We all had a good work out with the heavy weighted body to warm up, then a lot of stabbing which is good stress relief by the way. I hope you have recovered and your herdwicks have settled in to their respective homes :) in Matlock, Scotland, Preston and Cumbria. Photos are now up on the workshop page.
Many thanks to Annie, see you May 14th for the next one. Happy felting ! I am pleased to say I am now exhibiting my work at Viridian Gallery in Keswick.Lots of little gems to be found here, Herdy will feel at home here, so close to the fells and surrounded by wonderful Herdwick art adorning the gallery walls. Call in and say Hi to Herdwick Tup and Ewe. My work is also displayed at Santon Bridge Gift shop , this is stocked with so many lovely crafts and gifts. My Woodland Woozles are stocked here along with kits and wool supplies. Woodlands Tea Rooms cannot be avoided with the aroma of their fresh coffee and scrummy meals. I love my delivery days here.
If you live further afield, I have a Folksy shop for online shopping. A while ago I bought some Black Leicester Longwool and Angora Goat fibre directly from the farm. I have been waiting for a sunny dry day to wash the fleeces and put them out to dry. They went from very smelly to clean and bouncy !

In preparation for the upcoming Workshops I have been blending more grey herdwick with lovely soft wools and a little white to add lighter shades. My first Herdwick Ram doorstop is now complete, he takes considerably longer to make with his horns but I have been intending to make one for ages and now I want to make more of theses fine fellas! The other doorstops I'm working on are Owls but it is hard to build stock at the moment as they fly away as soon as they land on the shop shelf, another one is sitting on my desk awaiting his wings, then he will be ready to fly! Teddy bears are also on the to do list, so far one little brown bear is complete, he has a wire armature body which makes him poseable. Postie should be delivering my order of Wenslydale coloured locks this week, I get incredibly excited about any wool delivery, but I can't wait to see these new colours so that I can add to more lovely locks to the Woodland Woozles. The characters are named after woodland plants which makes learning about the woodlands with children so much more fun when they can take their own Woozle along with them. The next workshop is Easter Sunday but is fully booked, I look forward to meeting all those that are attending it will no doubt be a fun day. Other future workshops have places still available, all listed on my Workshop page. Mr Ram is pictured, I shall get a picture of him soon with all the ewes, hope you like him. Happy felting. . ...... postie just delivered my lovely locks! This is the view from my little studio, the Isle of Man was so clear yesterday I had to get a photo.
It's lovely to see the sun after those long days of rain. Spring is nearly here, lambs had to be created! Sheep too, I decided to give these sheep some Wensleydale locks, of course I had to do one of my favourite, the Herdwick also. I have been carding wool batts in preparation for my future workshops, some beautifully soft grey Norwegian with the coarse light and dark shades of Herdwick. The Easter Workshop is now full with limited spaces left for June, spaces still available in September. Happy Felting! Hi there, this past few days have been spent filming and setting up my you tube channel. I think the easiest way to learn something is to actually watch it. My kits have instructions with photos and now I am adding video tutorials to make them even easier. I have uploaded my first tutorials for the Baby Penguin Kit which is in two parts. My channel is called Handfelted Creations, please subscribe to watch more videos, I will upload more shortly. The link for my Youtube channel click here .. Handfelted Creations My Folksy shop is now open. It is a little sparse at the moment, I have beginners kits, wool supplies and more felted items to be added as they are created.
Lots more available at Santon Bridge Gift shop. A big thank you to all the ladies who attended yesterdays Workshop in The Woodlands Tea Rooms. There were many of their own creative touches added to the owls made, murmurs of doubt at the start of the session that some could not create the owls turned to twitters of joy at the end, I hope this inspires you ladies and others to come and have a go at needle felting, push your creative button and who knows what capabilities you have! Thank you also to Nancy for the use of the lovely tea rooms and the chef who provided delicious home made soup and sandwiches which went down well. Requests have been made for further workshops like this one, any new dates will be added to the workshop page. I was a bit low on supplies, apologies. I have had my delivery (a bit late) but, multi needle holders, felting pens, scrummy wool colours, at my next workshop I will have plenty in stock, Photos up on the Workshop page. I was lucky enough to walk the fells this morning with my husband, he enjoys photography and has captured some wonderful images which I'd like to share, now I'm inspired, Herdwick felting time!

It is so exciting blending wools and colours to make your own batts. Mixing various shades of browns, naturals a little white, I get a lovely textured look for my owls, I used the firmness of a Jacob sheep wool, Parendale with the soft and silkiness of Alpaca and Merino. I also tried greys and whites. The results from carding are so satisfying. I shall have some bagged up shortly to sell on line and in the gift shop, we are making little Woo at the next Workshop, it should be fun, I can't wait to see all the different coloured little Woo's! Introduction to Needle Felting workshop on Monday the 25th of January 10am - 2pm at Woodlands Tea Rooms & Gift Shop Santon Bridge.
