We make one in the workshop, you then have all the tools and equipment to make your second Woozle at home. The cost of the kit is £18 this includes 2 hours free tuition. Please contact the gallery or myself to book a place. This is the first Woodland Woozle which has been created by a student, Dean, he is a newbie felter and has made his own Woodland Woozle and named him Clifton. I think he is fab!! Dean is a art student and has some very creative ideas, I love the shades he has added and the hat detail. I would love to see your Woodland Woozles. If you have created one from my Woozle kits please send me a picture and I will add you to this page. Thank you.
I am excited to have my felted creations now for sale at Haig Mining museum. Whitehaven has such a strong history with mining, one of my grandfather's along with many other grandfathers was a coal miner. I was told the tales often of how you would hear the wooden bottomed clogs striking the cobbled streets off for a shift in the dark , wet mines with their bait tin and tin water bottle.
On returning home they would climb into their baths in front of the fire. Haig mining museum captures the history and is well worth a visit. Below, Miners and pit ponies, one miner is on that walk home to his bath, short legged trousers and clogs with blackened face. |
