News & Updates
We started the week off in North Yorkshire where my husband captured the images of Swaledales and their little lambs enjoying a beautiful spring day. Our trip took us to The Courthouse Gallery in Thirsk which is now selling the Swaledale doorstops and sculptures as well as my other creations, if you are in the area it is well worth dropping in, it also has a cosy cafe with home made goodies and a very warm welcome.
The Swaledale doorstop is my new creation and will also be available at Viridian Gallery Keswick. The fleece used for the Swaledales was purchased locally, I now need more of this lovely fleece but I will have to wait for the weather to warm up a little more then the sheep will be ready to part with their warm coats for me, hurry up summer! Annis's Hand felted Creations can now be purchased in Windermere at Gallery 2.
Alfie the hare, herdwick sculptures with their lambs are among the items now exhibiting. This is Lizzy, my latest hare, she is waiting for her friend who is now in my workspace being created. Monday at Santon Bridge Craft Shop we created some sly and happy foxes, followed by cheesy mice. Time didn't allow us to make the rabbits but the group have taken home their kits and hopefully will be creating little bunnies. We enjoyed a home made hearty lunch provided by Woodlands Tea Rooms with tea and scones later, such a treat. Thank you Nancy, Alan and your wonderful staff. Thank you and well done ladies who made a great effort and produced some fine foxes and mice, this was a first attempt at needle felting for all but one of the group, I think it proves what can be archived with just the basic felting equipment, a felting sponge, felting needles, wool and a little confidence in your abilities to create. I think they have all gone down with the bug, the felting bug! photos from the workshop here Happy felting. The wind was blowing, the lake was choppy and the sun was shining, a lovely day for a walk around Loweswater, Richard had his camera with him of course.
Hello, I haven't had any news up for a while so time to make up! Some new creations are planned for this year, the hare, cheesy mice, wild bears, owl cushions, and more ideas are stacking up. The hare will be available to buy also to make at a few workshops throughout the year. The owl cushion is a new design, I did make one previously but this new design has a larger design using Cumbrian Jacob sheep wool, Badger faced Welsh mountain (so soft) which was locally sourced also, I added some locks which have been naturally plant dyed, such wonderful colours, all part of my Woolfest purchases back in June, I knew those fleeces would come in useful! Cheesy mice are fun, we will be making some at my next workshop which is next week along with foxes and rabbits, hopefully we will cram them all in, I look forward to meeting the group at Santon Bridge Craft shop with the lovely Woodlands Tea Rooms serving up a delicious lunch. Wild bears, these seem to have become a favourite with the men folk, I have used a lovely soft dark brown with a tiny fleck of black added, it works so well for the bears. There are lots of workshops planned this year with more dates to be added it will keep me very busy, because they were popular the herdwick doorstops are back and new workshops are the herdwick cushions, I have only two planned, also the hare workshop, I had a lot of requests to make a hare so this year is a chance to make your own. All dates are listed on the Wokshop page We have some new colours added to the felted soaps, springing ahead a little with some bright yellows, lilacs and oranges, in the softest merino, my feeling happy colours, well spring isn't far away now. I have added some photos below of the new Creations and a taster of the next workshop, see you next week ladies. These are the best days when the sun is shining in the lakes. Santon bridge gift shop was our destination this week, herdwick cushions, sheep, Christmas penguin kits, Santa and his reindeer, robins now in stock! we made use of the Woodlands tea rooms, lovely home made soup.Their Christmas menu is being severed every Friday in December and it looks delicious! My husband came with me this week so we had a walk around Wasdale, it was a beautiful day. Counting Sheep .. at Quirky workshop This fine flock was created this weekend at the armature workshop in Gosforth.
Quite a challenge in a day, starting with wire and a bundle of wool, the group did so well and went home with their own little sheep and hopefully will be making their second sheep now! Thank you and well done ladies. The last Herdwick doorstop workshop for this year , Wednesday's group, it is fully booked but more will be held next year at Quirky workshops, dates are on my workshop page. Mrs Ewe and Mr Tup are in this months Cumbria Life! Thanks to Diane Gainey, Aritst and owner of the lovely Viridian Gallery in Keswick where you can purchase the doorstops and many more wonderful pieces of art. I have finally completed Heathchiffe. He will be looking for a home soon, he must be close to life size, that wasn't my intention when I started him but I got a bit carried away. Although he is not as heavy as the herdwick doorstops he is weighted so may be used as one. Heathcliffe has been sat quietly watching with his ears up in the corner of the room, I think I will miss him. You can find Heathcliffe at Viridian Gallery in Keswick, he will be settling in for this weekend (4th/5th Nov). He will be a one of a kind, I hope he finds a good home :) . Little Blue Keyring, Robin Christmas Cards and Felting Kit, I will be adding more felted creations soon.
